Pop Superstar To Perform ONE LAST TIME! In Portland On May 28
Public Can Trade a New or Gently Used Musical Instrument for Free Tickets to Manilow’s ONE LAST TIME! Concert
[Portland, OR] – Legendary singer-songwriter Barry Manilow is “hitting the road” ONE LAST TIME! and hopes others will follow his philanthropic lead as he donates a Yamaha Keyboard to launch a local instrument drive during his ONE LAST TIME! Tour for the Portland Public Schools. Anyone who donates a new or gently used musical instrument to the Moda Center Box Office will receive two free tickets (valid for pre-selected seat locations) for Manilow’s May 28 concert in Portland, OR.
“I know firsthand how invaluable music education is,” said Manilow. “It is a privilege for me to help bring the gift of music to these kids,” he continued.
Moda Center at the Rose Quarter will be the base for the instrument drive in Portland, from now through May 28, 2015. The instrument drop off location at Moda Center is open between Mon-Fri 10a-5p.
“The last time Portland Public Schools got new band instruments Ronald Reagan was president. Our Board recently approved more than $900,000 to purchase new instruments, but to get new instruments for all of our students would cost three times that amount. We are very grateful to the Barry Manilow Music Project for enhancing Portland Public Schools’ ability to provide quality musical instruments to our students. The additional instruments will strengthen our music programs, allow more students to have access to music and help create life-long lovers of music and the arts,” said Carole Smith, Superintendent Portland Public Schools.
The Manilow Music Project (MMP) is part of The Manilow Fund for Health and Hope. Its primary focus is to provide musical instruments to high schools and middle schools and to provide music scholarships at universities throughout the US, Canada, and the UK.
